Early morning kayaking in New York state at the Basha Kill WMA (sometimes shown as Bashakill) outside of Wurtsboro NY. Although Basha Kill may sound ominous, it really isn’t… “kill” is a term derived from Middle Dutch meaning body of water and is very common around the Hudson Valley and other southern sections of New York which had heavy Dutch influence in colonial times.
